The only drawback I have found to feeding hotdogs is the elevated nitrate, NO³, levels in the water which necessitates frequent water changes. But my one being in a pond and has a auto water change system it's not a concern. Sometimes there is a slight sheen on the surface after feeding hotdogs but when they get large its a treat. no i dont cook then. What i am trying to get at is they will eat every thing they can that is a meat based product. That also goes for any tankk mate that can fit in its mouth.
I have caught some nice cat fish on hot dog when fishing they love the things but yes dont fill the tank/pond in with them. They are a good stand by to have in stock.
