I posted a few pics of my severums a few months ago asking their sex but I never really got a concrete ID on what kind they are. They were labelled as red shoulder severums....which I doubt is true. Anyway what are your thoughts?

looks a bit like a Heros severus I would guess female. The 6 dark lines and that little one on the tail are seen in the Heros severus and are dark when spawning or stressed.

not a rotkeil and not a atabap

it could be an actual H. severum but im not sure. its real nice looking what ever it is :D

I think my flash may have been freaking them out, the two of them would be normal one sec and then there bars would just show up for no apparent reason.

im pretty sure atabapos are a varient of severus
the lack of red on the side is throwing me off, my 2 severus started getting red at 2". is it possible it is a hybrid?

It could be, the one thing I am trying to remember is if they were wild caught or not. I remember the real rotkiels were but I can't remember if these were. My other sev (not pictured) does not have nearly as much blue on its face.

as far as i know atabapos are Heros. sp. "Atabapo" indicating a different or yet to be described species
