I've had this fish roughly a year or so and don't know exactly what species it is. Any help would be much appreciated uploadfromtaptalk1398895892588.jpguploadfromtaptalk1398895909633.jpguploadfromtaptalk1398895947862.jpg

Agree. One of the most common, if not the most common, synos in the trade.

The record ones are 12" SL = standard length = not counting the caudal fin; so ~15" TL = with the tail. Typical (is typical typically stunted? IDK.) is indeed not more than 8"-10" TL = total length; so 1.5-2x smaller.
