Hi guys.

Still on the look out for for my first reptile :)

Following are the turtles for sale which I am looking to choose from. (I think I like the Mata-Mata if that is indeed a mata-mata)

Can you please ID these and recommend a slightly rare one (I am looking for something rear and hence not an RES. Although that albino RES does look cool)

Pic 1: Is this a mata-mata?

Here's my IDs for the turtles:

Turtle #1: Mata mata
Turtle #2: Chinese softshell (albino)
Turtle #3: Diamondback terrapin
Turtle #4: Fly river turtle
Turtle #5: Alligator snapping turtle
Turtle #6: Red-eared slider (albino)
Turtle #7: Redfoot tortoise

As for a recommendation, how much space are you willing to give the turtle, and do you want a water turtle or land turtle/tortoise? The diamondback terrapin is the only one that will stay under 12"; the rest tend to get a little bit larger than that or even can weigh over 150 lbs. in the case of the alligator snapping turtle.

I'd recommend the diamond back terrapin Personally. My favorite basking species and pretty good for a beginner. Unfortunately for me you need permits to keep them in Massachusetts. You could do the albino red ear slider too if you have the money for it, I forget how much they are going for now.
