I was given this guy because he out grew somebody's tank, but have no clue what exactly he is,he is very peaceful and gawjus looking.

I know he is a Geophagus, just don't know what type,i have never kept Geophagus's until recently,i bought a Threadfin Geophagus to go with him with my adult Severum,Baby Severum,Blue Gourami,Adult angels and black widow tetras.

Okay my Geo knowledge is a bit poor but to take a guess, Heckelii??!

And I must say he is a stunner! Awesome colors on him!!!

Thanks :) I just googled it and it does look very similar to a Heckelii,my mate thinks its a brasilianensis but they dont look as nice :S

Thank you :D do you think he is defintiley a male?

Also do you know what sex my adult severum is? my friend has a adult female red severum he wants to breed my gold with it.

Thanks mate, can't believe i never discovered these fish before...is he a very well coloured specimen or do they commonley get that bright? I would go as far as saying it was prettier than a discus.

Also am I right in thinking both he and my Threadfin will grow to 12-14"? (not that thats a problem, thats what I want :P )

yep, brasiliensis, which I believe do grow in the 10-12" range. no idea about the threadfin.

:)
