hi guys just got 2 red atabapo today. can anyone help identify if this 2 are atabapo I or atabapo II? size are about 6-7 inches. thank you!70D0C780-FDBF-4EF3-BB28-909ECD1B9537.jpeg

That is definitely the more common Atabapo lugubris "red". The 1 or 2 doesn't matter as that is simply which one was found first, and even then there's a dispute as a result of mislabelled pictures online. The other one is Atabapo lugubris "ladder" which requires very soft acidic water with heavy tannins and will get really bad HITH or HLLE in a short amount of time if not provided this. As the name suggests it has a ladder pattern until around the adult stage and has a much bigger "tear drop" under the eye and red dots along the lateral line near the tail fin. It will eventually get a deeper red under the right water conditions and diet. Also, The red does require soft water with tannins, but it doesn't develop HITH or HLLE as ladder.
