ID on bass

It has a small black spot right on gills. Color is plain but it is also a baby.

Sure. Females have a red color on their side and the males don't.

I can tell you that is 100% not a bass. It's definitely a type of sunfish, looks to me like maybe a juv. Green Sunfish, and a really young one at that! Do a google image search and see if that species looks like what you have there.

Thanks I need to research my natives better. Arn't sunfish related to bass ?
