Hey guys, So I find a lot of invasives in a pond I vacation by in Florida. There are lots of mayan cichlids and blue tilapia especially. I have recently been finding this new cichlid that I am having trouble IDing. I think it may be a acura, convict, or hybrid of some sort. What do you guys think? Sorry about the quality of pics

I also found one particular one with a wierd black band on the base of its tail (in the pictures below) I am not sure if this is a hint or some skin condition. I really appreciate any help you guys can give me. Thanks!Screenshot 2015-01-04 13.26.16.pngScreenshot 2015-01-04 13.26.24.pngScreenshot 2015-01-04 13.26.32.png

Thank you for your help! I was afraid it would be a tilapia, if it was a CA cichlid I was going to keep it.

Very cool fish I have some juvs I caught last year in Miami, very attractive substrate spawning tilapia....

Usually a solid black section of a fish like that is due to some kind of bruising or nerve damage. I have seen it affect the posterior half of a fish, and I have also seen fish that show it on one whole side of the face/body while the other side is normal. Sometimes it heals and the black goes away, but sometimes it stays that way.

100% spotted tilapia

as for the black marking at the base of the tail. Could be from being stressed out or could be internal damage on a portion of the tail.
Most likely stress

I am also pretty sure it's a spotted tilapia I have tons of them in my canal and they lay tons of babies. I have 2 babies I'm growing in my 55 gallon. The ones I see in my canal have really nice colors so, yea you might want to consider holding onto him for a while.
