id on snake

Does anyone know what type of snake this is i found it in my basement and have never seen something like this before and i couldnt find it in any books that i have so any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks Aras

ok, my bets are these

i looked at your local herps

prairie kingsnake (Lampropeltis calligaster)

bullsnake (Pituophis catenifer sayi)

gopher snake (Pituophis catenifer)

last two are almost same species

btw, u have massasauga in your state, just a thought (very poisonous, but rare)

I'm guessing a bullsnake.
The first snake that ever bit me was a bullsnake- hard to forget that pattern!

Ill try to get better pics of it tommorow and it is about 18 inches long but definitley isnt full grown.

keep it, its not venemous, and all 3 snakes i listed are fun to play around with, plus, you can scare the **** outta people that dont know its non-venom

It is Arizona Elegans (Kansas glossy Snake)

I am pretty sure Koliveira is right, one of the many Arizona elegans sub-species, from Kansas that would be Arizona elegans elegans (Kansas glossy snake) gets about 30".
