ID on this freshwater grouper

That's no grouper,it is a bullrout,an Australian brackish water fish.
 
Actually a store in this area seems to order them pretty regularly.They always seem to have a tank full of them and they are labeled as butterfly grouper or something like that.They are said to reach almost a foot in length but I have never seen them over a few inches.

They're also sold as the Butterfly goby (Vespicula depressifrons). They're brackish, grow to about 4", require lots of cover in the way of rocks and plants, and usually only feed on live foods since they're pounce predators. Incorporating live gammarus in their setup goes a long way towards providing proper nutrition for them along with black worms, brine shrimp, etc.
 
I remember in one of my old books they were referred to as Notesthes robusta
