I was told one was a Flavescent and the other a Ngara. I have yet to see any color change in either and I have had for months now. Both have a lot of egg spots so I would assume they are both males. Any help one what species they really are and when you think they will change color. Both fish are about 3-4".

Flametails can take forever. With the tank mates I saw there it maybe a while before they color fully. Dominance plays a role of when the color will show. Also egg spots are not a good way to determine the sex.

I agree with Mike! Flametails can take close to a year to color up in a sub dominate state. The flavesent can take the same amt of time. Most peacocks will color eventually. It would be good if you could take them out, place them in a separate tank with a female (any peacock female will do) until they color up and then put them back in.
