might be a dovii jag mix.
that was my thinking, either jag or jag dovii, what doesnt show in the pic is the pointed anal and dorsal and is deeper bodied than it looks at the min its only about 7-8" long

But it does appear to be a female. Thought that Jags had larger spots.

Not female Jags, only the males have all the spots....or do you mean down the middle of their body? Cuz those look 'spot on' to me lol.

Some Jags are taller bodied than others.

deff a jag but no way to sex it at that size. theres been many threads on here about sexing 6 inch jags where people were wrong. let it grow up some and out of all the jags ive had the males have a ton of speckling on the tail fin while the females do to but not as much.

Fishguts I think you accidently misread, in post #6 he says it's 7-8" long.

Ime, females have the large blotches down their middle section, less body spotting, a more golden coloration and a much lighter markings on their fins.

thanks people, defo thinking female now that my little carpintis has gone black under its throat and rear end am i right in saying that they are breeding or courtship colours
