I have noticed these greenish thingy is starting to take over my tank,
wondering what they are? are they bad? harmful to my fish?
How do you get rid of them? I only feed once every 2 days.
I have 5 Channa Lal cheng in my tank.

idk the name of it but it can be annoying. i had a bad outbreak of it but it didnt harm any fish and can be removed 95% by hand but smells horrible. added a common pleco and totally wiped it out.

It is blue green algae. Keep your tank clean. If you live by wet lands you will get the spores in the air. The way to totally wipe it out is to suck out all you can then use erythromycin, Maracyn by Mardel, at 1/2 strength for disease, one time. This does not harm the fish, plants or biologicals and does not cause resistance. Blue green algae is a bacteria that drifts in the air or is passed directly from a supplier. It does not get out of control unless you don't see it and/or your tank is dirty. Be sure to bleach everything that touches that tanks water (1tsp bleach per gallon of water) including your arms and hands as you will pass it on to another tank or bring it back to the tank to the same tank a few days later.

does MTS snails help as well?
My tank is heavily planted, it is very very hard to clean the whole tank.
on the other hand, cleaning crew will be nice..

Just suck every bit out you can see and treat. You don't have to do a perfect job. Thats the beauty of the Maracyn. You just do not want a large die off to pollute the tank and cause low oxygen levels or a sudden drop of the PH. I have lived by lakes for 30 of my 43 years of fish keeping. Once a year around in August I get it in all my tanks at the same time. I have learned to watch for it and as soon as I see it I suck it out and treat. It is more likely to occur between water changes. I have learned to treat all plants I purchase with the Maracyn before putting them in the tanks for 4 hours. It seems to stop any infestation from the stores. It save a lot of work!

Ultra Life blue green algae remover works well and is easy to use. Does not harm plants or your biological filtration while ridding your tank of blue green algae.
