What kind of gar is this? He's about 30", currently shares tank with a 20" Jardini and some datnoids, range from 10" to 14". Any potential risk?

definitely an alligator gar, and yes, definitely a major risk to any fishes it's being housed with...starting with smaller ones first--

haha ID as solomon said...i hope you don't like it's tankmates...the're not gonna be there much longer

although i have a qn. when my 24" gator was in a pond, he killed off quite a number of koi, ranging from 15"-20", but never touched plecos or the 14" spotted gar. any idea why?

Koi looks pretty much like feeder. He probably was going to eat them, but only find out that they're too big after he killed them
