I know NOTHING about SH...But it looks like a gachua....Free bump either way :)

Hi Pyrom.

Is the fish wildcaught in your homeland??

I would say Ch. Stewartii - mainly because of the little black dots on the sides, the pointed headshape and the slighly "bluish" fins...

Cheers,
Peter

be prepared to lose that ram(although its very attractive). no matter the species he will eventually outgrow him and eat him. what size tank do you have him in currently?

^Agreed.

yeah,i caught the fish in a hill stream, was on an outing with friends, decieded to catch a few danios for my piranha tanks, and got that little guy in the last try.
the rams are safe, they are moved now,and should the snakehead grow into something interestin,i hav an empty 75gal...
looks as tho stewartii is the most likely option right now, isnt gaghua, coz it has pelvic fins and isnt bleheri either.its the growth rate that bothers me..i mean ive raised lots of dwarf SHs in the past, but never seen growth quite like this.
thanks for the inputs..i'll update soon

HI,

all gachua have pelvic fins, orientalis have none (and come from Sri lanka).
I Think it could be a gachua variant, but stewartii variant is also much likely, cause the fish is still small and juvenile, and has not reached the adult coloration.
Normally stewartii have bigger black spots.

Gachua from Koh chang (thailand) have smnall black spots too, look like your fish.
