its in the 'surinamensis' group for sure, but other than that I can't help you. The state of Geophagus taxonomy is at best a confused mess right now. Your particular fish seems to lack the distinctive spot that many of the surinamensis types have, which may help in a proper ID, but as far as care and breeding go general guidelines for surinamensis should be more than sufficient.
 
possibly an altifronz but it could be in the surinamensis group.

I agree with the Surinamensis comments as most unidentified Geo's in the US seem to be a member of this collection. Even with proper well lit photographs of the fish with all fins open and unclamped it's still difficult to ID.
