I recently picked up a few colombian red spotted severums. My supplier had them labeled as sp heros. They are wild caught from colombia. But I cant list them for sale until I have their correct sp name. Im thinking heros sp atabapo. Anyone else think the same? Let me know, I have 12 fish so their will be a few pairs avalible for sale, thanks John

They look like stunning atabapo to me. Never seen any that nice.

I think the better question is how much do you want for them?

Yeah they look like H. severus "atabapo" to me too. These guys are not as easy to sex as H. efasciatus because they don't have the typical "worming" facial marks. They best way is to look for the dots on the lower part of the gill cover - males have them and females don't.

Possibly, but hard to tell - can't see the lowest part of the gill cover very well. Also not sure about the size and maturity. I should say that the dots are "supposed" to be on males but not females.....no personally experience with them...YET :D

Seems to be sp. 'Atabapo' to me as well ... beauties, for some reason I think they are more beautiful than even rotties ... but after peering through my books, could be the true severus as well. The pattern is identical and they are found in Colombia.

Hopefully someone that knows sev's better can tell which of the two they are.
