Looks like a stressed baby warmouth to me. Lepomis guttatus.

id have to agree because of the patterning. also it may look like a small mouth bass but it isnt because SMBs dorsal fins are almost completely seperated into two parts, and this one has one solid fin. It seems to have 10 rays, and 10 dorsal spines. You can see the beginnings of what looks to be the small warmouth opercle spot. There is a reddish tinge to the eye, and it has the 4-5 dark bars radiating extending to the edge of the opercle. He looks a bit thin but i believe i have this I.D. correct, and i wanted to elaborate so that there is no dipute instead of just saying......Warmouth. I have learned! lol

Warmouth, goggle eye, rock bass...whatever you wanna call em...thats what you got...I kinda prefer goggle eye myself.

To be specific...take a look at the anal fin. warmouth have 3 spines whereas rock bass have 6...that can really tell you.

I new to this thing, have been fishing my entire life...can someone explain what the differance is between a Rock Bass and a Warmouth? When I saw the pic I imediatly thought it was a Rock Bass, but everyone agrees it is a Warmouth. Help a brotha out.
