Got this as a Red devil/Midas mix..... or is it something else? What do you guys think?

Had put it on dark substrate first.... then changed it to white substrate. That washed it's colours. Now back to dark substrate. Colours came back but it's still a bit stressed with all the changes!

Looks like you got yourself a Jinkang
not quite a jk, but close.

Has it faded yet?
yes.

it's not pearly enough to be a jk, nor does it have the right body shape. but there's no way it's just a rd/midas, unless the rd stands for red dragon. : P

Thanks for the replies guys. When I got it, I knew it was something else rather than a plain Red devil/Midas mix. Considering the colour pattern, barely visible pearls and body shape right now it stands somewhere between RD/Midas mix and a Jin Kang FH. I'll wait a while and let it de-stress completely and see what it exactly is.

BTW what's the difference between a Jin Kang and a Golden Trimacu FH?
Also, if not quite a Jin Kang, and neither a Devil/Midas.... is there a name for this strain other than termed a mutt?!

id just call it a flowerhorn... id say it was a JK that was recrossed with a labiatum.. that waters down the strain a bit..

this fish probably has gone through lots of cross breeding... the result is a very nice colored fish.

you should do an all black (black background w/ black sand) tank with this fish. that will make his colors pop even more. just something to think about.

So the general consensus is it's a FH.... at the most a very low grade Jin Kang! That's great news, as I knew I was NOT getting a Rd/Midas mix as insisted by the LFS guy and a friend of mine. And for 5$ it isn't a bad buy I told my wife. She was a li'l confused whether to believe me or the LFS guy. This thread helped me prove my point.
The fish is getting more colourful. Will post some new pics tonight.
