What kind of Geophagus? Bout under the name geophagus surinamensis at Petsmart. Little wouldn't hold still for a second.

Yes, Petsmart labels these geos as "surinamensis", but they are most likely not and most will agree. The geos they have are most likely abalios or altifrons, but a better experienced eye could tell you with precision which this one actually is.

i think most people have decided they're growing into altifrons, but they're still pretty small to tell. altifrons have a smaller black spot and the patter on their tail is spotted instead of striped

Mine has stripes near the base and dots at the tip.

NOT Altifron. Its an Abalios. Stripes + dots = Abalios....dots + dots = Altifron.

Yes alts have a smaller Black dot, but It will only get small when the fish grows bigger, so I have found with my current Altifron.
