I have had this Gar for about a month - still not entirely sure what species (whether its a Florida or Spotted). I believe its a Florida, but just to be sure (keep in mind this Gar is only 6 inches).

Btw, is there any proper way of telling the difference between the two? I heard that Florida Gars have a more broaded snout than a Spotted.
 
It's very rare to get an actual Spotted gar, unless you get it from someone with locality collection information. Even rarer to get one outside of the US. Based on your location, its 99.999% likely to be a Florida gar, probably farm bred.

They're still very nice fish though, congrats on your first gar.

At first, when I bought it, I was told it was a Gator Gar.
