My boyfriend brought this home from the lfs the other day and no one seemed to know what it is, any ideas?

looks more like a convict than a FH to me.

I don't think it looks like a convict. It has more blue on it and has a little bit of pink on his chest that you can't see in the picture.

Its stressed the eff out is all, its not a convict those are stress stripes. Its hard to determine with only 1 picture of a fry. Give it a month or so, and you should see some defining characteristics.

Deff not a convict.. It has big spots on it..
It might be a low grade fh, if it is, it's probably not going to be pretty. Also, white eyes usually mean it's infertile, so I wouldn't attempt to even try breeding with it. It's probably a baby midas/red devil since I can't see any pearls and it has no real coloration. But that's just my guess.

Try to get some more, and better pics so we can get a better guess.

Way too small to say this the eyes are going to look completely different by the time the fish is 3"

and it's not a midas/devil because you can't see any color on it. It's just too small to have developed anything good yet.

I was thinking Cryptoheros when I saw the bars, but those are just from stress. They seem rather dark to be purely stress though.
It could be a ZZ.
Maybee a ZZ cross. I was also considering some form of Jellybean convict. If reds are coming out on the stomach it very well could be. Like others have said, Wait till it grows and it will be more obvious.

I've grown my ZZ out from that size to about 3in now and it's eyes haven't changed. They were always red, but still, what you said is a contradiction, it's still too small to show color, so there's no real way to tell. I was just putting my opinion in, who knows what it'll turn out to be, it's still too young to tell and that's really the bottom line, lol.
