It kind of looks like a warmouth. But what exactly is a
Warmouth? Is it a sunfish or a bass or what ? I've been fishing in this area for 16 years and I have never heard of a warmouth til this week...

From what i gather, a warmouth is a type of sunfish. I dont think i've ever caught one in nj but they seem to be all over given the fish and wildlife depts stated range.

Warmouth are very shy fish and not "dirty common" like bluegill or pumpkinseed and these warmouth have prefered habitats. Yes it is a sunfish, a very predatory one!
