Freshwater Drum (Applodinotus grunniens) "Sheaphead". I catch them all the time in Lake Erie and in my local rivers. That's a tiny one you've got there, I've caught some over three or four times that size!

Actually that size may be average size for few populations. Few of our lakes has drums that never exceed past 16" and when they do, it's usually extremely old drum. We treated them like panfish when it comes to fishing.
