The orangish base tells me crenicichla Lugribus tapajos. The fact that your fish appears to be a male at around 8 inches or so and it's not fully colored red tells me it's a 2.

So tapajos 2 is my guess. Do you have an earlier pic from when it was smaller?

The white tip on the top end of the caudal fin is another way to distinguish them as tapajos.

Jake, care to chime in?

First of all mrcrane VERY nice pickups. id put money on it they're tapajos II. Cobras. Very nice man! I sold mine and I see pictures of it from time to time it's developing very nicely. Can't see the pictures very well but from what I can see one IS a female and the other could be a male although I can't see it very well. Also don't think I don't see that zebrina in there., post some picks of it too man!

mrrobxc mrrobxc never heard of the white on the upper caudal that points toward T2... U got a link to that source possibly? I'm just curious never heard that before it looks more like small tail damage to me at least

My big T1 Female doesn't have any white at the upper tip go back to my thread and look for yourself. I don't remember any of them having that white on them unless their tail got bitten or something.

In regards to That pic off rapps site the tapajos is at that stage when at least I can't tell if it'll become a T1 or T2... IMO it's just slight tail damage I don't think rapps sits on his fish for too long since he sells them so fast so they sometimes have slight shipping damage when they come in from Brazil I think my old T1s and T2 had a bit of that when he came in too
