It appears to be of the Herichthys carpintus clade, but the extra dark areas are confusing, unless it is simply in stressed out just added to the tank colors.
A better shot would help. The dark areas could indicate a hybrid.
Are hybrids popular in the Maldives?
Here are a couple variations to compare.
Herichthys carpintus chairel, similar size(?).

Herichthys tamasopoensis

Below another carpintus from a different location, maybe Escondido (don't remember for sure)

Looks like carpintis to me. I've seen them with dark barring like that when about to spawn or when they are stressed.
I would say yours is probably reacting to the presance of other Ci hlids in the tank like the mbuna in the photo.

I would not say popular. Occasionally there would be hybrids in shipments that are brought to shops. However, there are not sold as hybrids, making it very difficult for buyers to identify the fish

I agree with duane and stan, looks like a carpintis. Possibly a hybrid or maybe just stressed out and dark.

I agree with the others. It looks like it's stressed out by being in a tank with what appears to be African cichlids.
