I was assured that its a fully freshwater species and thats what he was in before i bought him. If he need brackish water how much salt would i need to put in a 2x1x1 tank?

I’d slowly add salt over a week to hit a target of 1.010. It’s like 1/8 cup per g. You’ll need a hydrometer. Once it’s adult it’ll likely need full saltwater. Use marine salt.

Yes. You still need to measure the salinity get either a refractometer (best option) or a hydrometer.
