Yeah, it does appear to be a Madagascar species, Ptychochromis grandidieri. If you search "East coast golds" you'll find more info.

Ive been looking for that fish forever. Ive had two golds. My addiction to find one is mainly because everytime ive bought one they have cost $6-$8 for 5-6" lol i love unique cheap fish. I can see why more stores dont carry them though.

I agree with the above posters, Ptychochromis sp. East Coast Gold, from Madagascar, and it is one of the easier Madagascans to get a successful spawn from.

Thanks guys. I wonder if they look as good as the video. I took the video myself so I know they look very good.

Dave's fish has them from time to time.
