I saw this guy at the pet store, but the fish guy wasnt in, and no one there knew what it was. but he looked really cool and i wanna get some info so i know if i can buy him lol.
I know the pic sucks, but it was the best i could do since he was hiding lol.
Heres what i can tell you about the fish.
Has a large upturned mouth. Has a almost bulb shaped head that is wider than the slender body.
He also has very very very small eyes placed very close to the mouth. I hardly noticed his eyes at first glance.
Anyway heres the best pic i could get. Let me know what you guys think.downsized_1226111443.jpg

Violet goby......dragon fish

Yep thats it. now i feel like an idiot lol. here i thought i found something unique...although i havent seen one in any of the LFS around here til now. that i can remember.
Im gonna do some research on them and probably get him later today if i can accomidate him in one of my tanks. he's just a wicked lookin fish lol.

So now i have read that they are brackish fish, which i have very little experience with. would one be ok in a freshwater tank?

9 times out of 10, the gobies you see in pet stores are being kept in freshwater tanks. Some say they survive just as well in fresh as they do in brackish, but I would prefer to keep a brackish fish in brackish water, personally.

very well brackish it is.

So the plan now is im going to get the violet goby, and he's going to go in the tank with my belonesox belizanus which also tolerate brackish just as well as freshwater.
What i gotta find out now is how low end brackish is going to effect the plants that i had planned to put in the tank lol
