She (assuming it's a she, I have no idea) is the oldest fish I've had in my tank and probably the heartiest, but I've never bothered to specifically ID her. I got her at about 5'' and I'd say she's like 8-9'' now, whiskers to tail. She hasn't grown much as of late so I'm sort of assuming she's about maxed out.

Anybody know what kind of syno she is? She's very plain-patterned but has a huge "crown" with a long dangly on it, and intense intense whiskers. Was sold just as a "synodontis", at my LFS for like $35 or something. She's one of those "so ugly I'm cute" fish and is definitely a crowd-pleaser.

Ah! That was going to be my guess! Does that mean that she's supposed to be able to make noise? And yes, she's always been very fat. She's a bottom feeder, but is very aggressive (loves to chase around my frontosa for fun), so she gets the first pick of all the refuse in a well-stocked 220g.

very nice synodontis eruptus :)
very fat too lol!

Synodontis eupterus* But yes, that's what it is.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure all Synodontis species will make a croaking noise when distressed.
