I picked up this little wild thing at the LFS yesterday and I wanted to try and ID and determine the sex. I was told it was a red texas, but I'm not sure about that. Also, it looks like a male to me. What do ya'll think?

Looks like a flowerhorn or some type of Trimac hybird, maybe.
I'm not seeing any dorsal splotch so I'll say male but not 100% on that since it's a hybrid you can't use that for sure better off venting.

They sell those at all the Petland Discounts around here as Red Texas. Never seen one fade though.
yeah some kind of attempt at a red texas or some kind of flowerhorn, i want to say it looks male but def not 100% without venting, def has trimac in it though so make sure to watch out for aggression if kept with other fish
