Petland Discounts is a terrible place. It's a shame they're the only place I can go.
A few months ago they sold me an albino iridescent shark telling me that they get about ten inches max. Of course, I learned of their actual size and was shocked. But I would never return a fish to that hellhole.
So she's currently living with my goldfish and pleco. Extremely temporary housing. She's six inches.
I need some advice from ID shark keepers. What size tank do you keep your sharks in? Where did you get the tanks? Do you have especially thick tanks for them? What are their favorite foods?
Thanks in advance.

i visited a lfs based in a garden centre the other day and the sign said 8in.
if you are not realy into larger fish in a big way it would be best to find a new home as a suitable tank will be costly.
i recently took on two which had a similar story-sold as small community fish to unsuspecting customers they are about 14-16in each and are currently in a 250uk gal tank they had come from a 50.

330gallon, but mine are afraid of everything so they dont grow fast.
Built my tank
They like algae wafers and those red carnivore sinking pellets.

Look into a 500gallon at a min for life

I think my biggest is 7" and my smallest around 4.5". They are a few years old. Like I said they are literally afraid of there own shadow so its kinda hard to pig out when they flee when a fish gets near them. They are getting better, but its probably to late for them to become 3' monsters. Im still hoping for 1.5' monsters outta them, maybe in 7 years. :screwy:

i have been in love with iridescent sharks, they resemble a smaller sized hammer head shark. i wish i could house them, however for how big they get theres much better fish to be had.

I kept my two newbs in a 20 long until they grew a bit, that only lasted about a month. I have since moved them to the 75 to get more growth on them before they go to the 150 with the big buy. I have an albino, and 2 regulars. The albino I got Right after new years at lest that 2 inches, and now he is between 4-5. He eats like a pig. The other small regular ID is about 6 inches long and I got him in December from Petsmart at a whopping 2 inches. Lost the one that I got with him. :( I find that they just love swimming against a current, so if you want to keep them really happy, I do suggest one. When all three were together, they would swim in a triangle just gliding against the current. My big guy is not an aggressive eater at all. I think that he has slowed his growing down. All three love blood worms, flake, but ADORE pellets. I their future home will be a pond, tho I want indoor, and my hubby wants out door.
:irked: I want huge, he wants big... lol. I will win this war :D

It'll probably be a good idea to find a new home for it.

There's an lfs by me with a 960g display tank and a 24'' albino ID shark- and even in that massive tank he looks cramped!

What size tank do you have. That will tell me about what size you should upgrade your fish.
If your not willing or able to upgrade. The marketplace on this site is a great way to rehome these fish.
