Hello, i have recently purchased a baby "pangasius" catfish from petsmart. Actually, my friend got it from petsmart 2 days ago and gave it to me yesterday after learning how big it gets. I have had it in a 10 gallon QT tank (its from petsmart) and after QT it will go into a 180 growout and finally into my 350 gallon. (if 350 is not big enough ill build indoor pond or sell it...) But, ATM it is only about 2 inches LOL. So, as my first time owning this fish, i got a few questions i want answered...
---- WHAT CAN I FEED IT (it isnt eating)
---- WHAT IS GROWTH RATE???
---- DO THEY EAT OTHER BIG FISH LIKE PAROON SHARKS DO?

PLEASE ANSWER WITH SERIOUS ANSWERS ONLY
THANK YOU!!!!

For food I would try bloodworms, or omnivore frozen cubes. I fed mine omnivore frozen cubes that had brine shrimp, bloodworms and greens in it. This would prob be your best option.

anyone else??? mine seems to be laying around alot then suddenly spazing out and swimming normal then sittng on bottom gain. IS THIS NOrMAL FOR YOUNG CATFISH?!?!?!?!

They are very uneasy in small tanks. Put it in the 180 and in a couple days he will adjust and start to thrive. They grow very fast. I had a couple that went from 1.5" to about 26" in 1.5 years. I'd get him on pellets. They are mild mannered and don't bother small fish.

Oh and they are shoaling fish so they do a lot better if you keep at least two.

---- WHAT CAN I FEED IT (it isnt eating)
***It could be stressed from the re-homing. It should take any usual fish food for a fish that size - flakes, bloodworm, brine shrimp, tubifex worm, small earth worms, etc.

---- WHAT IS GROWTH RATE???
*** It used to be clear to me: ~1.5' in the 1st year, slower from there, usually no more than 2'-2.5' in captivity, even large aquaria. It reaches 4'-5' in the wild. But there are some keepers that report slow growth and small sizes for the reasons that are unknown to me. ---- DO THEY EAT OTHER BIG FISH LIKE PAROON SHARKS DO?
*** No. They could if a fish is real easy to fit in their mouth and easy to catch and they are very hungry. But normally no. All of mine, a dozen or so, would strongly favor pellets of any kind over any fleshy frozen-thawed sea/aquatic foods.

I agree with the comment on the tank size and the schooling.

They are a gentle, timid, flighty fish that often injures or kills themself by running full speed into a tank wall. It needs space, calm, and a good group.

So im gonna get another one (lol this is gonna turn into a HUGE DIY build project) but do you think that simply getting another so i have 2 will help??? I know some may say "get a group of five" but that is simply not possible. Sowill just getting ONE more help... And WOULD DITHER FISH HELP AT ALL I WANT MY GUY MORE ACTIVE I AM FASCINATED WITH THIS FISH LOL XD

No need for dithers just another of it's own kind. Unfortunately most people don't give these guys the homes they need and stunt them badly. Feed them well and give them plenty of room and they are great fish.
