I seen an ID shark today at the petstore. They said it only grows to 12 in. I know that is wrong, I have seen bigger. I was wondering what is the growth rate of an ID shark? Just interested. They had like 25-30 in a 10 gallon tank. Right now they were about 1.5-2" a piece.

I've seen some go months without visible growth, and i've seen some that grow VERY quickly.

Mine would be a perfect example of it seems like they never grow. They have but it's a little to slow for my liking. I love mine though, they will eat out of my hands and are very nice to watch.

They can grow slowly, they do get big. They live for a very long time. My ID in my avitar is currently over 16 years old and pushing over 26". Most fish stores will push any fish sale. They dont care, just inventory.

what size of tank would you put them in? How many do you think you'd get?

last week i went to my lfs looking for some ID's as they always had them in, but they didnt have any. i asked why and they said they are no longer stocking them because they get too big for the average aquariast. i appalude their actions but am still confused as to why they still stock rtc's, clown knife's, and channel cats on a very regular basis. oh well guess its a step in the right direction.

so i went to walmart to buy some. deff. one stop shopping, got some diapers, dinner, and a couple ID sharks.:D

I like to look at them. I think they are interesting, but I do not want any. I know I could not properly house them, they get massive. I just wanted to know the growth rate of an Id shark, because at our lfs there is like 20-30 of them in a 10-15 gallon. They are like 1.5"-2.5".
