OK so, before anyone give me the general can't believe you bought this wont have room blah blah blah, I understand these get big, and I will house them accordingly, money not being an issue.

Now I have 2 at the moment in my small tank with Danios, various tetras and few other small colourful fish ( its the Mrs tank ).

Now the main question I have is how quick do they grow, mine are currents 2", what is best diet for them?? At moment they are eating general flake and bloodworm.

Now there are many species of ID shark/Peng Cats, the guy at the fish shop told me this one would not grow more than 7 or 8 inches?

Below is a link to one exactly same as mine!

Thanks for any help.

7 or 8" is a lie, going by the pics provided your new fish have the potential to grow to 4 feet in length

All 8 of mine hit a foot in a year. My 3 year old albino IR is just under the 2ft mark. And, say good-bye to those danios. At less than a year, my IRs were taking down 3-4" minnows. Give them a large tank, and similar size tankmates and you'll have no regrets. This is a very active species with graceful shark-like swimming patterns that really make for an attractive setup.

The last 2 regular iridescent sharks I had grew from 2" to about the 2' mark in less than 2 years. One a little more and one a little less. Their growth all depends how they are kept. I fed them mainly a diet of sinking pellets but they will eat a variety of food including vegetable matter. They tend to be very skittish in small tanks and hit the sides of the tank when scared. They are great fish if you have the room. Good luck.

they're gonna eat anything and they're gonna grow up so fast, that you wouldn't believe it!
they prefer dannios, tetras and other small colourfull fish as i see u already have!!:D
as much as u don't wanna hear about all tha same, get a BIG home for them as soon as you can bro...:nilly:

Rule 1 of buying fish: never take the word of a guy selling fish in a pet shop.

Lol, I have been thinking about getting one for a while tbh. And after a fair bit of looking into it I decided I wanted 1, then found out they are better in 2's or 3's or more. I opted for 2. They are sold at the pet shop as non aggressive and size of around 8" fully grown.

I did think the were going to get bigger so no worries, they will get shipped into my 60"x18"x18" over the weekend. I did fancy putting in an oscar however the one at the pet shop is about 8" and would make a meal of these 2 I would think.

At the moment all they do is swim up and down the side of the tank looking at there reflection. Also dont seem to be interested in blood worm, only flakes!!!

Thanks for anymore help!

Pangasius, AKA Iridescent Shark. You need at BARE MINIMUM a 400g tank for it.
