I think he's a spotted because the mouth doesn't go beyond the eye and because of the spots under the lateral line... I would appreciate your guys opinion so which one do you guys think he is?

A small lake/pond at the park by my house that is known to have LMB. However there could also be spotted in there as well or people could have confused the spotted with largemouth the whole entire time. Here is another pic not as clear but it's a full body shot.

What is he 4" or so, i'm starting to move towards LMB just from looking at it from the side because of the gill cover, but it could be a cross if both species are in there, its still young and a splendid looking fish at that, i'm jealous, would like to get some young ones agains but right now i'm looking for some greengills and i have a couple of bass already, how is this one doing??Your tank looks nice and clean, do you have anything else in there with it?

Thanks, He is about 3-3.5" right now and is doing really awesome. His tank mate is a 2-2.5" black bullhead catfish that could easily fit in his mouth but they seem to get along fine. Most likely because the cat hides all day except when I feed him. Sometimes the catfish will actually chase the bass around. It's pretty hilarious to watch. Oh yea and the crawdad is in with him now as well. The bass has really good markings and reacts to me. He reminds me of a little puppy dog. Bass are incredibly smart and in my opinion the best fish to keep.

Damn straight!! I love my bass and i have read somewhere that they are the smartest NA native fish (i will try to remember where), but until yours gets alittle bigger (my opinon) for sure we can tell what it is!! Awsome natives, are you going to put any others in there or other natives?

No, At first I wanted two bass so he could have a friend but I could only catch one so that settled that. Then I saw bullhead cats for $2.99 at the LFS and couldn't pass that up. So for now it's just these guys. Post some pictures of your bass! In my opinion bass are the smartest fish period native or not.... If I do get more fish I will definitely keep it native. There just isn't a non native that I like. They all suck...

As soon as i can get the camera to work i will. Truely a native keeper, myself i have alot of natives and also some chiclids; texas, jd, fortosa and jags, next mouth i'm getting two 1100gl ponds for my fish house, i plan on building a nice set-up for my natives and plan on sending pictures for everyone to see, some of my tanks are going to become the filter systems so i have my work cut out for me! To see a nice school of sunfish, bass, perch and channel cat would be an excellent site to see. I've been hunting around on this forum to take notes and i'm going to add a waterfall going into both of them, i have 55gl drums coming from work and those are to be the feeder containers, they are going to be hooked-up together with 6" pvc fittings and silicone and someway i would like to hook them-up also to the ponds.

Maybe someone could do a comparison thread of spotteds and LMB cause i've never even heard of spotteds.
