What are these? A cousin of mines caught them off a net with hot dogs at a small little dirty creek.

I had these 2 for about 3 weeks now. Have been feeding them little pieces of market shrimp & freeze dry krills. They can eat alot! My thoughts were baby bluegills? or Green Sunfishes? There mouths are pretty big!

check your local fish and game to see if you haveing them is even legal.
that being said they look like sunfish to me. not bluegills also you should get them in a tank pronto!
good luck

Ofcourse its legal dude! The ranger said its all cool bro! :) LOL.

Cool, they might be sunfishes? Yay!! :D Both of them are in a 10 gallon grow out tank for now. There not even 1 inch yet, they should be going in my 25 once they outgrow the 10 gal. After the 25 gal then they should go into my 100 if they make it.

Nice fish, I love greens and used to have 2......but I must warn you they get aggressive when theyre older.

Both look like green sunfish to me. Bluegill eyes sit lower on the sides and green sunfish have eyes that are closer to the top of the head. Greens have a longer slimmer body.

Bluegills have a stocky build. Also greens have electric blue rays coming from the mouth over the gill plate. Blues only have a bluish color to the lower part of gill plate from the mouth down.(Like a smile, and only the smile part is blue)

Greens have very large mouths for their size, more like a bass. Blues have a regular small mouth. Here is a pic of a green sunfish(1ST pic) and a bluegill(2ND. pic) Greens have larger lips than blues.
