They called these guys "pepper ghost knife fish" at the LFS but looking at their faces, they look more like mormyids than knifes to me. Looks like they don't really have a jaw that opens and closes, as it were.
And even weirder than that, I noticed one knife in the pack that apparently came with that is DEFINITELY not the same species. Its tail is skinny and it actually has a head like a ghost knife, but no stripe whatsoever except maybe a brown one down its side. To me it almost looked like an upside-down aba aba.
