I see this thing in the marineland ads on the top of the page all the time, and I can't help but wonder what it is.

Some kind of African? Or is it SW?

its a peacock....african cichlid.

I've seen peacocks a bunch before but never noticed one that looked so uniquely blue/white. Usually find them boring. I'm no expert on africans though.

Do you think this one is photoshopped heavily or do they actually end up looking this good?

i dont think it is photo shopped looks like a big male... Google ob peacock and look at some of the images

Looks like a Malawi mbuna called OB zebra (Pseudotropheus zebra).

It's an OB Aulonocara (Peacock Hybrid). They typically have blue blotches on an orange/white background.

Thanks for the IDs guys, gonna do a little more research. That fish photo has been seducing me for a while now. Too bad it hasn't really encouraged me to buy their products, but I suppose it's an effective ad anyway.
