ID this archer--burmese??

Just found this labeled as an "Archer Fish" at the Petland Discounts by me. Last one they had. It looks EXACTLY like the burmese full FW archers I bid on today and have seen at Absolutely Fish in NJ.

If so, I got it for about 1/10th of what it usually retails at.

He looks a good amount like that guy. I'll try to get some in tank shots.

As an aside, I thought normal archers looked very different from the burmese variety.

Damn you! I actually called them earlier today to ask if they still had them! lol.
 
I just spoke to my friend who is a manager at petland. He said that archers were not on there list this week. So maybe you got a donation to the store. He is going to call the warehouse in the am and try to order some and see if we get lucky too.

I dunno if it was on donation or what but they had a legit sticker for it. And I don't know if it's anything special yet. Lights are out in the tank but maybe I'll try for a pic tomorrow morning/night.
 
Got a few pics this morning. He still looks a little pale/stressed and was trying to hide from the camera so this is the best I could do for now:

So if this guy is just a normal he'd probably be happier in an african than an amazon type tank, yes?

The funniest thing about this, btw, was that at the Petland I asked the employee if the tank he was in is brackish.

She told me that it used to be but they'd gotten lazy and stopped adding salt recently, so it was pure FW.

And THEN, to test it, she dips her finger in the water and tastes it! I gagged, and opened my mouth to say something about that but before I could she did it AGAIN!

At that point I decided to just shut my mouth and buy the fish. I also had to stop one employee from blowing into the bag to fill it up, lol.
