Saw a new cichlid at the LFS store today, and alas, didn't have time to buy it and bring it home before work, and left the cell phone in the truck, so no pics... Going to get tit tomorrow, but I haven't seen one like it yet, and no one there had seen one either...
Was in the tank of "mixed African cichlids", appeared to be some sort of peacock or Hap, I think...
The front (nose/mouth/part of head) had a blueish tinge, going to orange in a diagonal from the front of the dorsal fin to the middle of his body on the bottom, then the back half was yellow... to a pale yellow tail fin... Really a striking looking color combination... Been searching google from my phone at work, but still haven't made an ID...
Going to get it tomorrow (later today) if no one has bought it.
Any ideas just from the description?
The closest I've found is possibly a Victorian, the Pundamilia nyererei but the color pattern isn't the same...
Or maybe the Red Peacock cichlid (any info I've found indicates this is a bred species, not found in the wild)

The Red Peacock is actually very close, so I'm thinking that may be it, but most of pictures I've found of it show much more red, and very little yellow...
The Aulonocara Strawberry might be close too... But the one at the LFS had a much more pronounced diagonal transition from the orange to yellow...

Hopefully I'll have it tomorrow with actual pictures and can get a confirmed ID... I'm fairly certain it's one of the last two...
