is this fish rare?

They are readily available around here. They carry them at petsmart:)

It's one of my favorite cats, I have a couple of them. I visited my LFS and they had one around 7.5" which is the largest I've ever seen in person. I wanted to buy him but the whole store was infected with ick and I don't have a hospital tank so I passed.

You'll like him. Give him plenty of hiding spots and you'll probably forget about him because they don't tend to come out when the lights are on.

Not a very good pick but from what i can see :iagree: Striped Raphael Catfish or they are sold as 'Talking' Catfish, as it makes a strange noise when in the net or out of water.[/QUOTE]

It is more like a sound of a dog barking. it is due to stress or agression towards other fishes.

it does look like a raphal cat, but somthing is off:screwy: Raphael cats have white stripes along it's body.

raphael cats made it to the indanger species list like 2years ago. If you do have a true raphael catfish do keep it because it is rare do to alot of over collectioning them form the wild. I wish i had one!
