I know I didnt pick the best one at my LFS, because Im still not sure what kind are they (this one is more darker color and lesser spots)

the cat ^^ this one is about 3-4 inches

That isnt a syno ocellifer. Only because it doesnt have the black striping on the fins. It looks more like a Notatus to me.

im sure its a ocellifer.. it have spots on the tail tin dorsal and anal fin too.. Anyway, I dont like it, cause it grow too big and too shy :O shyier than my ID shark :irked:
 
the key is that ocellifer has striping on the caudal and dorsal fin. From the pictures you have posted neither fish have this striping which led me to think it was notatus as this cat can anywhere from no spots to twelve spots. Either way your right it will get big, so if you keep any of them i hope im wrong cause notatus gets bigger than ocellifer. But i love my notatus he has great personality and i love the feathered barbels much better than my eupterus.
