ID this cichlid

i picked up two of these guys from my LFS and i cant figure out what they are. at first i thought they were convicts, but they seem too colorful. firemouths maybe? also, male or female?

some are just more colourful than others
i'm no expert but it may be a M/F thing

i was hoping it was a female convict. the guy at the LFS was arguing with me that it was a firemouth. they were only $2.50 each since thats how much they were selling the firemouths for. i was happy

Sometimes female convicts will color up nicely. Here's an example.

(The red blotch on the side of the belly usually indicates female.)
