saxitalis group, that is as close as I can get you.

sveni maybe

What's the name of the river or the name of the drainage system you got them from? Might help to figure out what type of saxatilis type pike they are

sveni maybe

Yeah man, I googled it and it really look like sveni, even the stress coloration. But its a bit strange since sveni is from amazon, and they are in a completely different river. As I said in another topic, fishes were introduced here, but this pike has no economical importance here, so it doesnt make sense of it being introduced here.

Man, I got then in Pacoti river. Its a river in Ceará, in northeast of brazil. It's in portuguese, but.. http://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rio_Pacoti
Prob there are no references of this river it in literature for pike cichlids.

I can get you a little bit closer ... it's a male.

Nice, but how you can know this?

This fish is too spangly for a sveni. (I have one - mine is a female.)

Males do not have a dorsal spot. Females do not have the orange finnage.

Wicked awesome pike!!! Saxatilis group pikes can be a hassle to ID sometimes. Yours is looking like Crenicichla sp. menezesi, but from your locality, its possible it could also be a variant of Crenicichla lepitoda. I'm personally leaning more towards menezesi though. . .

Get some better shots man!! :D
