This fish belongs to my mom He/ she is about 13" long and very stout and fatand round. It is a happy fish that loves attention and does front flips all day in its tank. I think it is a hybrid Trimac???maybe. Anyway I think it a male as it has never laid eggs. Also we put a female Fh in with it for a few weeksand the female Fh laid eggs, but nothing happened with them?? If anyone can id this beast please chime in. Thanks so much-Jenny

Sorry about the bad pic but its her cameraphone.

It's some type of old strain zhen zhou flowerhorn. Has lost of amphilophus trimac blood in it. It looks like one of the flowerhorns that petsmart was selling as trimacs 3 years ago. Not sure of the sex but if you've had it awhile and it has never laid eggs there is your answer.

i second the flower horn- heavy on the trimac

Is anything bred with a Trimac considered a Zhen zhou to you? Or what do you base this on?
Zhen zhou is not a "catch all" of everyt FH that has trimac traits. Zhen zhou is a breed, Not a trimac cross.
I wouldnt say this is a flowerhorn at all. Looks like its all Trimac actually.

That looks nothing like a true trimac, it has trimac traits thats it though. i would say an old strain or a low grade red dragon or one of those crossed with a trimac.

A breed, yes, but definately a Trimac cross.

Flowerhorns are breeds, but few, if any, breed true. Some trimac looking offspring are inevitable with most types of flowerhorns.

I base it on the fact that trimac is one of the founding fathers of the strain zhen zhou. Sounds like you think you know more than you actually do. Go ask the people on the ca/sa section if they think this is a true trimac and they'll tell you the same thing. Trimacs were one of the main fish used to create zhen zhou. The older the strain the more influence the trimac has on it. A lot of the old school U.S. bred zz's are as simple as a trimac X something else.

So is Amphilophus and Vieja, but your not going to call a Amphilophus hybrid a ZZ. This fish doesnt have a single pearl, How is it a ZZ?
I asked you what you based your opinion on and you get your panties in a twist? Come on brother, Spread some knowledge. If your right prove it, No need to belittle my intelligence. Im not familiar with old school US breed flowerhorns, and I doubt too many people are, But I do know what a ZZ is.
But you send me over so Ca/Sa section, So I think your the one who thinks they know a bit more than they actually do.
