I bought this fish under the label Neolamprologus Cylindercus. I've looked online for a couple months now. I have had her for about a year now and can't figure out what she is. Yes I do know it is a female fish because she has actually had babies with another fish. A fish that was sold to me as a Julidochromis Marlieri. I will attach pics later of the male fish.

The Julidochromis is the male. They are both beautiful fish, in my opinion. I don't have any picture of the fry as of yet, but hoping to have some soon.

To me she looks like a cross between a Neolamprologus leleupi and a Neolamprologus cylindricus. She has a lot of leleupi traits but the stripes are weird.

Thats exactly what I thought; I'm just not sure if thats exactly it.

i even see some neolamprologus beuscheri in there...like lelupei x buesheri, because i have never seen a tang that color or shape...together anyways.

Dead on... they have been known to cross bred with each other. Males will even fight for each others females.

Thanks everyone. Even though she is a Hybrid. Shes still a great fish. Except when she is protecting fry.

Since we figured out the Female species. I have the question. Why are the two fish able to breed?

please don't sell any fry!!!

Haha don't worry I won't sell any... I'm actually quite curious to see how these fish will look when they are a couple of inches... There is one from the first set of fry that has survived in my tank that you can tell it has the black markings like the male... Not sure one what color it will be
