Found this in a tank of jds at petsmart. Didn't have the black spot on the tAil like other jds and different looking body shape/face.

Looks like a juvy Paratilapia pollini to me.

Im really torn on this one.:confused:
Im like 90% sure im wrong but it looks like some sort of native sunfish in the second picture but then im pretty sure thats wrong. If not a native then looks like a paritilapia polleni

Omg it is a holy find batman. Just saw a video of those beauties and I need to get it now. Hopefully they have it tomorrow cuz if it is. It's all miiiiiiiine. Would it be ok in a 55 gallon?

It is a Paratilapia, it is Madagascan.

It takes a little time, but it can reach 12",and while not the "most" aggressive of cichlids, it can get dominate a tank, and will eat any fish that fits in its mouth and slow enough to be caught.

They can be gluttons, and have quite the personality.
The tank below is a 120 gal, and as you can see, the alpha male runs it, there are also 3 female Paratilapia in the tank.
 
These fish should not be underestimated. They can quickly become dominant in almost any setting. They also dont tolerate their own kind. Unless with some luck and raising babies together. I have kept them with central and South Americans. My best luck in mixing these with sa/ca successfully has been when raising everyone together from a small size.
