ID this guy please

Anybody got an idea on this? We have him labeled as a Smiling Cichlid and is pretty aggressive we got him on a trade in and none of my coworkers can figure it out. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Very hard to tell from those photos. Could well be a mixed fish. A hybrid of a JD and Con....

Interesting observation my only thing is he is about the size of a full grown jd and still growing. I was thinking a parachromis hybrid?
