They've got red tails but the adipose is darker, deeper and more orange than the tail. I've heard of red tailed armatus before. They patrol the tank and are getting reactive to me approaching the tank. They act nothing like the scombs I've had. I don't know what the behavior difference is between tats and armatus. What do you think? 8" or so.

better gauge is the deep, convex body and small tail, i'm pretty sure it's a tat but you could try other monster fish section for vamptrev or dbjunkie to chime in.

Look Tat to me.

I am on the fence... I have never seen either in person though. They act like I hear armatus act though. They are a lot like my pbass and even gave them some aggression. I haven't really heard anything about the bahavior of a tat.

Price would normally be somewhat of an indicator, but this is the same place that I have bought several 5-6" wide bars and a 13" for $150 a piece....

kinda looks like my armatus i recentky bought.

They do look like arms but I say tats. How many do you have and what was the price of them?Tats like to group and be close to one another, not usually the case with arms.

Adipose looks tat to me.... It is bright color but it's like 2/3rds black. At 8 inches an Armatus adipose's color is gonna really pop.

Don't know proper terminology for that fin on the bottom side, but it does not appear big enough to be Armatus.

Eye color is overall pretty dark.

Tat.
